Talent Insights are currently hiring for a Data Analyst to join one of Australia’s largest federal government agencies on a 12 month contract.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve existing reports and data interfaces using SAS.
- Convert existing SAS code into high quality SAS code that is efficient (fast), automated, maintainable, and follows industry best practices.
- Will be expected to mentor colleagues and be proactive in developing colleague skill sets to have a better understanding of SAS coding.
- Develop, code, test, debug, and document SAS programs in SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Studio.
- Utilise advanced SAS Macros and SQL to meet business requirements.
- Require cross-environment coding for data manipulation across SAS 9.4 and Viya environments (with data in SAS, Parquet, and CAS formats)
- Analyse business needs and deploy SAS programs in Production.
- Identify gaps in requirements and communicate effectively to resolve issues.
- Be the SAS SME within the D&A team for best practices, Architecture, and security practices in SAS
Key Deliverables
This role will work within the Data Services team, and will be contribute to delivery of:
- Support month end data processing
- Update data assets from a prioritised product backlog in a CI/DC dev-ops environment
- Maintain and update SAS data models, data dictionary as per data development specification
- Data analysis and development in SAS analytics platform (Including SAS Viya 4.0 experience)
- Expertise in SQL
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience reverse engineering end user SQL code
- 7-10 years of SAS experience developing and administering SAS solutions.
- Strong expertise in SAS coding (preferably having gone through “SAS Programming 2” course), work with SAS Enterprise Guide/SAS Studio against clustered environments.
- Experience with working on data source definitions across SAS/Access and Data Connector modules.
- Experience with usage of “proc cas” to work against CAS engine libraries will be preferable.
- Proficiency in working across SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya environments with Linux Servers
- Experience in the government domain is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- SAS Certified Base Programmer, preferred: SAS Certified Advanced
- Experience with version control tools and processes (Gitlab CI/Bitbucket/Bamboo)
